The audience thought a goal was coming when Deivid Quadros got free with Fernando Romano in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 25 played minutes Imperatriz - MA got a freekick which was hit by Fabrício Leme. Buritama's Jaime Gerber quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Adalberto Vargas, made in the 28th minute of the game. If Ivo Pinheiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Deivid Quadros got free with Fernando Romano in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Wágner Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Pinheiro in the 39th minute of the match. A collision led to Buritama getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. José Carlos Ferraz hit a great ball. Gonçalo Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivo Pinheiro to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Imperatriz - MA got a freekick which was hit by Ezequiel Castro. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bruno Salvador got free with Wágner Amorim in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Buritama getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Gernando Ortiz hit a great ball. In the 66th minute of the match, José Carlos Ferraz tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Wágner Amorim saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Buritama's Fernando Romano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deivid Quadros in the 69th minute of play. Ivo Pinheiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wágner Amorim. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ivo Pinheiro ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Imperatriz - MA's zone, Ivo Pinheiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wágner Amorim came out of the goal and Ivo Pinheiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nildo Motta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wágner Amorim stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ian Pimenta's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. After 85 played minutes Imperatriz - MA got a freekick which was hit by Ezequiel Castro. Wágner Amorim didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 86th minute, which inside left pole to 1-3. Ian Pimenta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Wágner Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Buritama's Ian Pimenta slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Wágner Amorim. That made the score 1-4 after 93 minutes of play.
