Dorian Xavier hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Heliópolis FC's Gerson Pinho got a free kick in the 20th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giovanni de Amorim in the 23rd minute of play forced Heliópolis FC's goalkeeper Carlos Mazza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the game, E.C Santo André's Giovanni de Amorim nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Mazza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gualter do Valle in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Paiva saved E.C Santo André from getting behind. The supporters of E.C Santo André booed when Heliópolis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renato Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 32 played minutes Giovanni de Amorim rounded Heliópolis FC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. The supporters of E.C Santo André booed when Heliópolis FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldemar Pitta didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes into the match, E.C Santo André's goal looked a bit too open when Gualter do Valle came free, but João Paiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the match, Dorian Xavier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Paiva. E.C Santo André's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dorian Xavier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Gualter do Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. João Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Renato Camargo kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. If Eriberto Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Betinho Barreto got a throw-in 71 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Leandro Simão. E.C Santo André's João Paiva proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save E.C Santo André from getting a goal against them. Dorian Xavier could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but João Paiva made a huge save. João Paiva made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Dorian Xavier sent off a good shot on target. João Paiva came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Heliópolis FC's Dorian Xavier. But to his dismay, Dorian Xavier quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. 89 minutes into the match, Heliópolis FC's Renato Camargo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 90th minute, Giovanni de Amorim got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 92nd minute Eriberto Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Although E.C Santo André had been in control for most of the match, Heliópolis FC still came away with the win.
