In the 9th minute, Paulino Richie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivo Santana was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Paulino Richie dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ivo Santana, 2-0. In the 16th minute, Fluminense FC's Maximiliano Demesio ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ivo Santana. Ivo Santana yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. In the 21st minute, Luiz Fernando Mazza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 23 minutes into the match, Real Sport Club's goal looked a bit too open when Maximiliano Demesio came free, but Ivo Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Fluminense FC booed when Real Sport Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Fernando Mazza didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 30 played minutes Fluminense FC got a freekick which was hit by Dorian Moraes. Fluminense FC's Manoel Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cauã Bertassi in the 32nd minute of play. Maximiliano Demesio was extremely unlucky when he, in the 35th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 40 minutes into the match, Real Sport Club's goalkeeper Ivo Santana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovanni Fantini. Luiz Fernando Mazza kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Maximiliano Demesio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ivo Santana. That made the score 5-0 in the 42 minute of play. Paulino Richie took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ivo Santana. Ivo Santana dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulino Richie stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Paulino Richie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivo Santana was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulino Richie in the 58th minute of play forced Real Sport Club's goalkeeper Ivo Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute, Geovanni Fantini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fluminense FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-0. Fluminense FC's Carlos Augusto Dracena got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivo Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulino Richie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Real Sport Club's Ivo Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dorian Moraes in the 83rd minute of play. In the 89th minute, Emílio Nunes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Maximiliano Demesio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Ivo Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Augusto Dracena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fluminense FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
