The audience was convinced that Gilvan Varela's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gernando Falcão was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Gilvan Varelas short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Gernando Falcão to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 61st minute, Natã Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tony França received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Juvenal Dionísio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 66 minutes into the game, Aparecidense AA's Marcus Netto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Juvenal Dionísio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Marcus Netto struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Juvenal Dionísio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aparecidense AA. If Gilvan Varela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 74 minutes into the match, Aparecidense AA's goal looked a bit too open when Pedrinho Sergipano came free, but Gernando Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tony França's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Juvenal Dionísio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Gilvan Varela kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gernando Falcão. That made the score 1-4 in the 93 minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Iacaia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
