Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. William Donato ran back to his position shaking his head. 8 minutes into the match, Bago AD's Henrique Oliveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vitinho Paes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Nilson Lara was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but William Donato showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 14 minute of play. Iordache Sava received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Nilson Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matías Nascimento in the 24th minute of play forced Bago AD's goalkeeper Nilson Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vitinho Paes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamim Marinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Guarulight F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Oliveira came free, but Vitinho Paes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vitinho Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Benjamim Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If William Donato had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Giuseppe Brasil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Almir Borges sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. William Donato was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, William Donato managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guarulight F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but William Donato was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benjamim Marinho got free with Vitinho Paes in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benjamim Marinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Vitinho Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Bago AD booed when Guarulight F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertinho Soeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. During the 64th minute of the match Giuseppe Brasil completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Giuseppe Brasil a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Matías Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Iordache Sava managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guarulight F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Iordache Sava was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nilson Lara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nilson Lara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matías Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. When Zé Augusto da Costa came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Guarulight F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Augusto da Costa couldn't finish the play. Nilson Lara didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from William Donato went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Matías Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nilson Lara having to interfere. 96 minutes into the game, Guarulight F.C's William Donato nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nilson Lara made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0.
