When the match clock showed 10 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Arí Peres sped through Zenit St Petersburg's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Décio Ortiz. In the 16th minute, Arí Peres ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Décio Ortiz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Arí Peres recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Arí Peres kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. 25 minutes into the game, Vitinho Tande was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Zenit St Petersburg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Thayus Clube de Futebol the free kick. Arí Peres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dagoberto Cardoso hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, Zenit St Petersburg's goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho Novaes came free, but Décio Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zenit St Petersburg's Décio Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Novaes in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute, Vitinho Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute of the match Charles Jacinto sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Décio Ortiz skillfully saved the ball. In the 40thth minute of the game Rony Garcia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zenit St Petersburg's Décio Ortiz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zenit St Petersburg's Décio Ortiz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arí Peres in the 42nd minute of play. In the 47th minute Zézinho Novaes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Décio Ortiz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arí Peres was the one to do the kick off. Rony Garcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Décio Ortiz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arí Peres got free with Décio Ortiz in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 59 minutes into the match, Zenit St Petersburg's goal looked a bit too open when Zézinho Novaes came free, but Décio Ortiz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zézinho Novaes hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the match, Arí Peres had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Décio Ortiz. Zenit St Petersburg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arí Peres was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. With his leg Décio Ortiz managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Thayus Clube de Futebol's Arí Peres fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 70th match minute, Zenit St Petersburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcelinho da Costa to maneuver through the defense. After 80 minutes, Kiko Torres mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thayus Clube de Futebol and the Zenit St Petersburg players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 80 played minutes Thayus Clube de Futebol got a freekick which was hit by Kiko Torres. Décio Ortiz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arí Peres in the 90th minute. 91 minutes into the game, Thayus Clube de Futebol's Zézinho Novaes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Décio Ortiz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. The Thayus Clube de Futebol players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
