Spectators: 7295 (Terracing: 5473, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 145) Young FC's Tostão Pombal started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Young FC booed when Carrancas E.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmir Sabóia didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Young FC's Tostão Pombal in the 4th minute got a chance for a shot 4th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Carrancas E.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. 7 minutes into the match, Carrancas E.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Andrézinho Pernambucano came free, but Eriberto Schmidt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Tostão Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedrinho Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Eriberto Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, Young FC's goalkeeper Armandinho Freire had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hélder Vergílio. Carrancas E.C. were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Young FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Walmyr Bertassi took the corner. In the 24th minute, Nuno Maia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Armandinho Freire was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Walmyr Bertassi. Joaquim Rocha's late challenge caught a Carrancas E.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joaquim Rocha helped the player get up and apologised. After 27 played minutes Young FC got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Rocha. After 28 played minutes, Carrancas E.C.'s Walmyr Bertassi shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Armandinho Freire came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Carrancas E.C. reached it. Armandinho Freire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Paulista, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eriberto Schmidt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tostão Pombal in the 37th minute of the match. Júlio Goiano kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 42nd minute of the match Douglas Dantas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eriberto Schmidt showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Michel Paulista was the one to do the kick off. Young FC's Armandinho Freire played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michel Paulista in the 52nd minute of play. After 56 minutes Carrancas E.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Douglas Dantas who took care of the corner kick. Douglas Dantas made a great header on Young FC's corner, it was just that Carrancas E.C.'s Eriberto Schmidt managed to reach the ball for a save. 58 minutes into the match, Young FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Vergílio came free, but Armandinho Freire reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pedrinho Tepedino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eriberto Schmidt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrézinho Pernambucano, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tostão Pombal in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eriberto Schmidt saved Carrancas E.C. from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Paulista in the 66th minute of play forced Young FC's goalkeeper Armandinho Freire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 70 minutes, Pedrinho Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Young FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedrinho Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Carrancas E.C.'s zone, Andrézinho Pernambucano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eriberto Schmidt came out of the goal and Andrézinho Pernambucano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eriberto Schmidt made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Tostão Pombal sent off a good shot on target. If Tostão Pombal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eriberto Schmidt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joaquim Rocha in the 77th minute of play. Pedrinho Tepedino who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Eriberto Schmidt when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Armandinho Freire didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Michel Paulista went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Pedrinho Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Eriberto Schmidt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Tostão Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Young FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tostão Pombal couldn't finish the play. Pedrinho Tepedino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Eriberto Schmidt made a huge save.
