Manuel Gonçalves started the match with the kick off. After 5 played minutes Locomotives got a freekick which was hit by Nelson Novaes. Narciso Corrêa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 8th minute, Moisés Koehler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Narciso Corrêa came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Barreto F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Narciso Corrêa couldn't finish the play. Narciso Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Chicão Capixaba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Locomotives's Chicão Capixaba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Gonçalves in the 21st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nelson Novaes during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Locomotives getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Nelson Novaes hit a great ball. Chicão Capixaba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Gonçalves, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Locomotives's zone, Manuel Gonçalves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chicão Capixaba came out of the goal and Manuel Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Locomotives's Chicão Capixaba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Corrêa in the 30th minute of play. Manuel Gonçalves took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Chicão Capixaba. Chicão Capixaba dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The Locomotives players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Barreto F.C. were winning 0-1.

Narciso Corrêa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chicão Capixaba having to make a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Romeu Vargas during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 58th minute, Romeu Vargas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Francisco Brodel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Locomotives's supporters rose to their feet, but Francisco Brodel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dedê Melo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Francisco Brodel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Frederico Vinhas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 66th minute Francisco Brodel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dedê Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Romeu Vargas kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Manuel Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 75 played minutes Locomotives got a freekick which was hit by Moisés Koehler. A hard shot by Osvaldo Macedo from long distance, 76 minutes into the match, got Chicão Capixaba's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Luizão Maranhense struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Dedê Melo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Locomotives. Manuel Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Luizão Maranhense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Dedê Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the game, one of Barreto F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Moisés Koehler shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Barreto F.C. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
