Umberto do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Vera Cruz FN's Téo Saldanha got a free kick in the 15th minute. When Anderson Alves fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vera Cruz FN's protests and gave Anderson Alves a yellow card for diving instead. 21 minutes into the match, Vera Cruz FN's goalkeeper Eusébio Carioca had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Valério Barral. In the 26th minute, Anselmo Medeiros made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Alves. Rapador AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 28 played minutes Vera Cruz FN got a freekick which was hit by Cido Arantes. In the 38th minute, Robinho Peres hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rapador AD's Danilo Quirino shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 39th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Eusébio Carioca but with some difficulty. Umberto do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Carioca having to interfere. If Valério Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valério Barral could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Eusébio Carioca made a huge save.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Anselmo Medeiros to make the kick off. Anderson Alves might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carlos Alves. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anderson Alves ran back to his position shaking his head. The crowd rose to their feet as Vera Cruz FN's Anselmo Medeiros slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Carlos Alves. That made the score 2-2 after 60 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Rapador AD's zone, Anderson Alves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Alves came out of the goal and Anderson Alves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 72 played minutes Rapador AD got a freekick which was hit by Wellington Queirós. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valério Barral in the 78th minute of play forced Vera Cruz FN's goalkeeper Eusébio Carioca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Umberto do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Carioca having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Umberto do Nascimento in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eusébio Carioca prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 86 minutes of play, Vera Cruz FN's Anderson Alves made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carlos Alves was left in no man's land by his defense there! Valério Barral struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Eusébio Carioca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapador AD. 99 minutes into the match, Vera Cruz FN's goal looked a bit too open when Umberto do Nascimento came free, but Eusébio Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Vera Cruz FN eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
