The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. José Brito's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ramiro Rocha firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Antônio Carlos Donato took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Ramiro Rocha to make any attempt to save it. In the 12th minute Matheus da Cunha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramiro Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilton Fernandez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luís Fabiano Santos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antônio Carlos Donato in the 20th minute of play forced Estocomo FC's goalkeeper Ramiro Rocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 22 played minutes Sampaio Corrêa FC got a freekick which was hit by Álvaro Guimarães. Estocomo FC's Diamantino Bastos couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Sampaio Corrêa FC. Nilton Fernandez scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luís Fabiano Santos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Brito got free with Ramiro Rocha in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. José Brito could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Ramiro Rocha made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diamantino Bastos in the 38th minute of play forced Sampaio Corrêa FC's goalkeeper Luís Fabiano Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Brito to strike the kick off in the second half. If Diamantino Bastos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Fabiano Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Fernandez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ramiro Rocha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matheus da Cunha in the 58th minute of play. In the 59th minute Antônio Carlos Donato shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ramiro Rocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 61st minute, Frédson Maciel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 63 minutes into the game, Diamantino Bastos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Luís Fabiano Santos. Diamantino Bastos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. In the 67th minute, Nilton Fernandez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 69 minutes of play, Sampaio Corrêa FC's Matheus da Cunha made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ramiro Rocha was left in no man's land by his defense there! David Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, José Brito ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ramiro Rocha was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. When Antônio Carlos Donato fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sampaio Corrêa FC's protests and gave Antônio Carlos Donato a yellow card for diving instead. Antônio Carlos Donato kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Estocomo FC's Ramiro Rocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Brito in the 94th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Sampaio Corrêa FC had won after a very even match.
