Naldo da Fonseca ran back to his position shaking his head. 27 minutes into the match, Palmeiras Piatã FC's Olívio de Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carlos Alberto de Queiroz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Acucena EC's Carlos Alberto de Queiroz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Acucena EC from getting a goal against them. In the 29th minute, Kléberson Gonçalves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 32nd minute of the match, Naldo da Fonseca tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Carlos Alberto de Queiroz saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Tadeu de Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Manfredo Macedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. If Vânderson Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tadeu de Amaral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manfredo Macedo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. Palmeiras Piatã FC's Manfredo Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredinho Mangueira in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After having played for 55 minutes, Naldo da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeiras Piatã FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Naldo da Fonseca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Olívio de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. Carlos Alberto de Queiroz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Acucena EC defense, Naldo da Fonseca kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carlos Alberto de Queiroz. The Acucena EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carlos Alberto de Queiroz should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Naldo da Fonseca in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Alberto de Queiroz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Zézinho Gomes hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 73rd minute, Naldo da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Acucena EC's Alfredinho Mangueira in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Palmeiras Piatã FC's goalie prevented a goal. Sérgio Esteves's late challenge caught a Acucena EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sérgio Esteves helped the player get up and apologised. Tadeu de Amaral in the 94thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Manfredo Macedo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Carlos Alberto de Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olívio de Lara in the 96th minute of the match. Acucena EC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
