With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clemente Marques in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cléber Barral saved Legionários FC from getting behind. After some careless play in the Legionários FC defense, Clemente Marques kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cléber Barral. The Legionários FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cléber Barral should have stopped the shot. Cléber Barral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clemente Marques in the 9th minute of the match. Jonas Cabral charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jonas Cabral the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 11 played minutes Legionários FC got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Cabral. If Clemente Marques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adriano Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Barral in the 20th minute of play. In the 21st match minute, Friburguense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manfredo Abreu to maneuver through the defense. 23 minutes in the game, Décio da Rocha dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Chicão de Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Cléber Barral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 minutes, Teodoro Messias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Legionários FC and the Friburguense FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Friburguense FC booed when Legionários FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Messias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Clemente Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 31 minutes, Clemente Marques made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Legionários FC's Cléber Barral tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Chicão de Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cléber Barral was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. If Chicão de Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléber Barral stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chicão de Carvalho's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Cléber Barral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clemente Marques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Legionários FC's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Marques came free, but Cléber Barral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Clemente Marques stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Chicão de Carvalho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Friburguense FC's Clemente Marques slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cléber Barral. That made the score 0-4 after 65 minutes of play. After 75 minutes, Cléberson de Senna mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Friburguense FC and the Legionários FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 76th minute, Décio da Rocha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Clemente Marques got free with Cléber Barral in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Clemente Marques might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cléber Barral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Clemente Marques ran back to his position shaking his head. Cléber Barral made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Chicão de Carvalho sent off a good shot on target. If Décio da Rocha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes into the match, Friburguense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nilton Reis came free, but Adriano Chaves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Friburguense FC played a much better game than Legionários FC and deserved their victory. The Legionários FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
