Régis de Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maurício Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. If Tomé Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, Goiania F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Maurício Nascimento came free, but Régis de Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Diogo Melo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomé Borges's shot from short distance in the 14th minute. If Tomé Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelinho Moreira took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Diogo Melo. Diogo Melo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After 21 minutes of play, Goiania F.C.'s Tomé Borges made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Diogo Melo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Diogo Melo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomé Borges in the 24th minute of the match. 24 minutes into the game, Ronaldão Lira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ELITE DO MZ's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Goiania F.C. the free kick. After 24 played minutes ELITE DO MZ got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldão Lira. When Goiania F.C.'s Tomé Borges in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. With a little luck, Goiania F.C.'s Régis de Amorim got control of the ball when Gernando Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tomé Borges hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The ELITE DO MZ players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Goiania F.C. were winning 0-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomé Borges stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. ELITE DO MZ's Carlos de Queirós quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hélder Arantes, made in the 52nd minute of the game. Tomé Borges fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diogo Melo having to interfere. Tomé Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Diogo Melo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th match minute, Goiania F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnaldo Rossi to maneuver through the defense. Régis de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Nascimento in the 69th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomé Borges in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Diogo Melo saved ELITE DO MZ from getting behind. In the 96th minute Maurício Nascimento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis de Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Goiania F.C. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
