Alfredinho Pitta made the kick off and thus started the match. Emerson Guedes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 5th minute, BIRMINGHAM's Sílvio Luís Ramos seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Sílvio Luís Ramos the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of BIRMINGHAM protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Sílvio Luís Ramos had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 4th minute, one of BIRMINGHAM:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for BIRMINGHAM. Fiori Souto shot the penalty kick right outside the post. With a little luck, Penedia SS's Jefferson Cosme got control of the ball when Rony Cardoso tried to sneak it across the goal line. 12 minutes into the match, Nicolas Neiva had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Perivaldo Aparecido. BIRMINGHAM's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nicolas Neiva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Emerson Guedes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Perivaldo Aparecido tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Perivaldo Aparecido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Neiva in the 21st minute of play. A hard shot 26 in the game by Rony Cardoso from a close distance when the talented Jefferson Cosme managed to make a qualified save. Penedia SS's players were relieved. Jefferson Cosme made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Rony Cardoso sent off a good shot on target. Rony Cardoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 40 minutes, Rodolfo Nogueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the BIRMINGHAM and the Penedia SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 40 played minutes BIRMINGHAM got a freekick which was hit by Rodolfo Nogueira. In the 45th minute Emerson Guedes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Aparecido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. BIRMINGHAM's Perivaldo Aparecido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emerson Guedes in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Penedia SS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nicolas Neiva was the one to do the kick off. Emerson Guedes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 54th playminute. Tomás Aguiar's late challenge caught a BIRMINGHAM's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomás Aguiar helped the player get up and apologised. Tomás Aguiar kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Jefferson Cosme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rony Cardoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 62nd minute Tomás Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Aparecido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 73 played minutes Penedia SS got a freekick which was hit by Emerson Guedes. After 75 minutes, Téo Hoffmann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Penedia SS and the BIRMINGHAM players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Penedia SS getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Téo Hoffmann hit a great ball. Emerson Guedes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perivaldo Aparecido having to interfere. Rony Cardoso struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Jefferson Cosme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BIRMINGHAM. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rony Cardoso in the 87th minute of play forced Penedia SS's goalkeeper Jefferson Cosme to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd minute, Emerson Guedes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Perivaldo Aparecido was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Penedia SS were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over BIRMINGHAM's much stronger midfield.
