Juarês Cordeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jefferson Cosme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juarês Cordeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Nicolas Neiva struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Renato Quirino didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Penedia SS. Kiko Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jefferson Cosme having to interfere. If Juarês Cordeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Penedia SS's goalkeeper Jefferson Cosme, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Juarês Cordeiro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jefferson Cosme having to make a save. In the 17th minute Juarês Cordeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jefferson Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Juarês Cordeiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cardozo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. When Juarês Cordeiro came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Cardozo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juarês Cordeiro couldn't finish the play. 29 minutes into the game, Osmar Teles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Penedia SS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cardozo the free kick. Jefferson Cosme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juarês Cordeiro in the 36th minute of the match. The wind increased when Juarês Cordeiro made the kick off in the second half. Juarês Cordeiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Penedia SS's zone, Frédson Marinho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jefferson Cosme came out of the goal and Frédson Marinho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emerson Guedes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 62 minutes into the match, Penedia SS's goal looked a bit too open when Frédson Marinho came free, but Jefferson Cosme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Penedia SS's Osmar Teles got his second yellow card of the match in the 63rd minute. The referee ordered Osmar Teles off the ground. The supporters of Cardozo booed when Penedia SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osmar Teles didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Juarês Cordeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juarês Cordeiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Jefferson Cosme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Penedia SS's Jefferson Cosme proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Penedia SS from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emerson Guedes in the 79th minute of play forced Cardozo's goalkeeper Renato Quirino to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Samuel Cabral's late challenge caught a Penedia SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Samuel Cabral helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Cardozo's Samuel Cabral got a free kick in the 80th minute. Juarês Cordeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jefferson Cosme read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. When Emerson Guedes fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Penedia SS's protests and gave Emerson Guedes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 86th match minute, Penedia SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Guedes to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st match minute, Penedia SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomás Aguiar to maneuver through the defense. The Penedia SS fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cardozo were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
