To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

After a defensive mix-up in Sabiuca's zone, Tiago de Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alex Sampaio came out of the goal and Tiago de Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alex Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiago de Castro in the 54th minute of play. Rafael Vidal was a little too slow when Emílio da Costa got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 1-1. Alex Sampaio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Anísio Botelho in the 61st minute of the match. Alex Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anísio Botelho, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Emílio da Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Rafael Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafael Vidal acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 98th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Célio Simão. Sabiuca's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
