Júlio Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. When Didi do Nascimento fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A. Juventus's protests and gave Didi do Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. Rui Seco charged in rather forcefully in the 25th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rui Seco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 25 played minutes C.A. Juventus got a freekick which was hit by Rui Seco. After having played for 26 minutes, Tarcisio do Vale managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São Paulo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tarcisio do Vale was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to São Paulo FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Iuri Coutinho hit a great ball. Sebastião Paulista struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Júlio Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.A. Juventus. In the 35th minute, Alfredinho Borges got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Júlio Recife came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by C.A. Juventus's Cleiton Domingues. But to his dismay, Cleiton Domingues quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. C.A. Juventus's Alfredinho Borges got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Júlio Recife took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredinho Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The São Paulo FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. C.A. Juventus were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredinho Borges made a kick off. An unexpected shot in the 53rd minute by Cleiton Domingues got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. São Paulo FC's Júlio Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredinho Borges in the 60th minute of play. Nicolas Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tarcisio do Vale in the 66th minute of the match. In the 73rd minute Cleiton Domingues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th minute of the match Iuri Coutinho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Nicolas Guimarães skillfully saved the ball. Júlio Recife showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfredinho Borges in the 80th minute of the match. Allan Domingues hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Júlio Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredinho Borges in the 92nd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfredinho Borges kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Júlio Recife. That made the score 1-4 in the 94 minute of play. C.A. Juventus's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
