In the 10th minute Elivélton Meireles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Machado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 11th match minute, Carbonita was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gugu Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. Hermínio Machado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Vítor Bueno, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jefferson da Cunha struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Isaltino Rossi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carbonita. 17 minutes into the match, Jefferson da Cunha notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Chateaubriand's Isaltino Rossi. Isaltino Rossi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Carbonita's Hermínio Machado got control of the ball when Chiquinho Marinho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 28th minute, Elder Souto made a precise shot to the right of Isaltino Rossi. Chateaubriand's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Hermínio Machado was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Olavo de Souza. In the 48th minute João Vítor Bueno shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermínio Machado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Carbonita were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jefferson da Cunha was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Carbonita's goal looked a bit too open when Elivélton Meireles came free, but Hermínio Machado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Jefferson da Cunha came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Carbonita fans jumped to their feet. If Jefferson da Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Chateaubriand getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Elivélton Meireles hit a great ball. Elder Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carbonita played a much better game than Chateaubriand and deserved their victory. The Chateaubriand players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
