Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Otávio Arce started the match with the kick off. Carbonita's Hermínio Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Recife in the 4th minute of play. 5 minutes into the match, Otávio Arce had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hermínio Machado. Carbonita's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Otávio Arce was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 8 minutes of play, S.E. Cachoeirinha's Víktor Castro made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hermínio Machado was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gugu Mendonça hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 14 minutes into the game, Luiz Fabiano Prata cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Hermínio Machado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Célio Motta came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Carbonita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Célio Motta couldn't finish the play. 20 minutes into the game, Carbonita's Jefferson da Cunha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Betão de Amaral made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. 24 minutes into the match, Carbonita's Jefferson da Cunha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Betão de Amaral narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Betão de Amaral didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jefferson da Cunha went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. With a little luck, S.E. Cachoeirinha's Betão de Amaral got control of the ball when Jefferson da Cunha tried to sneak it across the goal line. 32 minutes into the game, Otávio Arce cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-4. Hermínio Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Recife in the 38th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the game, Elias Vianna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Betão de Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Célio Motta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Carbonita getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Elder Souto hit a great ball. S.E. Cachoeirinha's Reginaldo Teixeira shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 68th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Hermínio Machado but with some difficulty. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fabiano Prata got free with Hermínio Machado in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luiz Fabiano Prata could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Hermínio Machado made a huge save. The referee felt a red card was in order, 76 minutes into the game, when Reginaldo Ceresso put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Carbonita:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of S.E. Cachoeirinha:s goal. The referee gave S.E. Cachoeirinha a penalty, 77 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Otávio Arce, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Carbonita's Hermínio Machado. 2-5. Hermínio Machado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Víktor Castro in the 80th minute of play. 82 minutes into the game, Elder Souto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-5. Betão de Amaral was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gugu Mendonça kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. The S.E. Cachoeirinha supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing S.E. Cachoeirinha would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
