Júlio de Toledo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luiz Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Zonta was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Sandrinho de Andrade showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. With a little luck, Ipitangueiros's Luiz Zonta got control of the ball when Víktor Damião tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joel de Almeida struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Luiz Zonta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Acara. In the 13th match minute, Ipitangueiros was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eliseu Bastos to maneuver through the defense. 14 minutes into the match, Albertinho Dantas sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Luiz Zonta threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Albertinho Dantas this time. When Pedro Luiz Rocha came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Ipitangueiros fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Luiz Rocha couldn't finish the play. Luiz Zonta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sandrinho de Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. A collision led to Acara getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Cristian Ramos hit a great ball. Eriberto de Sousa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Umberto Falcão scored 2-0 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luiz Zonta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 42nd minute, Eriberto de Sousa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Júlio de Toledo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Gerson Nunes hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Acara's zone, Pedro Luiz Rocha stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Júlio de Toledo came out of the goal and Pedro Luiz Rocha tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Umberto Falcão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 57 minutes, Inácio Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ipitangueiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Inácio Bezerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eriberto de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 66 minutes, Inácio Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ipitangueiros's supporters crossed their fingers, but Inácio Bezerra was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Inácio Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ipitangueiros's supporters rose to their feet, but Inácio Bezerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio de Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel de Almeida in the 89th minute of play forced Ipitangueiros's goalkeeper Luiz Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Inácio Bezerra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Eriberto de Sousa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ipitangueiros's supporters rose to their feet, but Eriberto de Sousa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio de Toledo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Many of Ipitangueiros's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ipitangueiros may have spent more time on the ball, but Acara were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
