When Zé Carlos de Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Rio Branco EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Carlos de Amaral couldn't finish the play. José Paulo Cosme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kléber Martins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zé Carlos de Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Badalo's Valdemar Machado got a free kick in the 15th minute. 18 minutes into the game, Remo Silva threw the ball into play from the sideline. Rio Branco EC's Ludomir Komanski quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The supporters of Badalo booed when Rio Branco EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ludomir Komanski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Caetano Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rio Branco EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Caetano Chaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Régis França breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zé Carlos de Amaral took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Régis França. Régis França dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Régis França made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Zé Carlos de Amaral sent off a good shot on target. After 32 minutes, Folke Lekberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rio Branco EC and the Badalo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th minute, Virgílio Valadares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, Rio Branco EC's Zé Carlos de Amaral sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Régis França narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Virgílio Valadares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zé Carlos de Amaral received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Régis França came out and tried to block the shot, but Zé Carlos de Amaral slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. The supporters of Rio Branco EC booed when Badalo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kléber Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kléber Martins was the one to do the kick off. Rio Branco EC's José Paulo Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kléber Martins in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd minute Zé Carlos de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis França saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 53rd minute, Horácio Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Zé Carlos de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Carlos de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Caetano Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Régis França having to interfere.
