The audience was convinced that Julio Soin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Artur Salgado was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. After 7 played minutes Cabo Branco FC got a freekick which was hit by Marcelinho Passos. Cabo Branco FC's Fernando Bastos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo Baiano in the 20th minute of play. Duarte Loureiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Borys Trynda kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Julio Soin struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Artur Salgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cabo Branco FC. If José Maria Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelinho Passos was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cabo Branco FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! Fernando Bastos had in the 35thth minute some difficulties stopping Duarte Loureiro's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Duarte Loureiro took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernando Bastos. Fernando Bastos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. José Maria Veloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Artur Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cabo Branco FC's Borys Trynda suffered a sore thigh after 42 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Carlos de Azevedo during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd minute, Carlos de Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Artur Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Maria Veloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Paulo Baiano to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd match minute, APCV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos de Azevedo to maneuver through the defense. Emerson Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Artur Salgado having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Maria Veloso in the 61st minute of play forced APCV's goalkeeper Artur Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kiko Paraibano during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Artur Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Maria Veloso in the 68th minute of the match. The supporters of Cabo Branco FC booed when APCV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kiko Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Artur Salgado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. José Maria Veloso scored 5-2 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Artur Salgado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
