With a little luck, APCV's Artur Salgado got control of the ball when Teodoro Senna tried to sneak it across the goal line. Artur Salgado was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Eliézer Queirós capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Eliézer Queirós really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. After 20 played minutes APCV got a freekick which was hit by Zé Paulo Baiano. The audience was convinced that Dadá Linares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Artur Salgado was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Artur Salgado made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Teodoro Senna sent off a good shot on target. Artur Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá Linares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Paulo Baiano to strike the kick off in the second half. Eliézer Queirós struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Artur Salgado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mate. After 63 minutes of play, Mate's Teodoro Senna made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Artur Salgado was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 68 minutes, Dadá Linares mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mate and the APCV players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of APCV booed when Mate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dadá Linares didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teodoro Senna in the 71st minute of play forced APCV's goalkeeper Artur Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the game, Dadá Linares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Artur Salgado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Artur Salgado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodoro Senna in the 78th minute of play. Filipe de Andrade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zé Paulo Baiano during the 98th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
