To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Olavo Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Zeca Costa came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Buenoia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zeca Costa couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Buenoia FC's Geovani Pires got control of the ball when Álvaro Albuquerque tried to sneak it across the goal line. Geovani Pires made an important save on a dangerous shot by Álvaro Albuquerque in the 22nd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Ibiatiara FC's Álvaro Albuquerque slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Geovani Pires. That made the score 2-0 after 22 minutes of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademar Pitta in the 24th minute of play forced Buenoia FC's goalkeeper Geovani Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeferson Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zeca Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. If Anísio Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeferson Santos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Zeca Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeferson Santos having to interfere. Zeca Costa struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Jeferson Santos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Buenoia FC. Olavo Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Zeca Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Buenoia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zeca Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jeferson Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Ibiatiara FC's zone, Zeca Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeferson Santos came out of the goal and Zeca Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Olavo Carvalho to make the kick off. Geovani Pires showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Álvaro Albuquerque in the 54th minute of the match. Buenoia FC's Geovani Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ademar Pitta in the 55th minute of play. In the 67th minute Álvaro Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geovani Pires saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ernesto Netto kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Buenoia FC's Zeca Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 80th play minute Zeca Costa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jeferson Santos. 2-1. Zeca Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jeferson Santos having to make a save. Belmiro Leão hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. In the 91st minute Anísio Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jeferson Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th minute, Acácio Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 96thth minute of the game Álvaro Albuquerque who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Buenoia FC's Geovani Pires was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
