The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Geovânio da Silva the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Boca Juniors protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Geovânio da Silva had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 27 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Boca Juniors! The referee gave Placa a penalty, 29 minutes into the game. Luís Fernando Arantes scored 1-3 in the 41st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mathias Sabóia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Luís Fernando Arantes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Reinaldo Dante hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Severino Mendes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mathias Sabóia came out of the goal and Severino Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

In the 56th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emerson Veiga to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Boca Juniors's Elano Guerra got a free kick in the 57th minute. Jerônimo Pena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mathias Sabóia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Mendes in the 60th minute of the match. The supporters of Placa booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronaldo Marques didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Placa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedrinho Pinho should have stopped the shot. Mathias Sabóia was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luís Fernando Arantes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-4 in the 92 minute of play. In the 94th match minute, Boca Juniors was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reinaldo Dante to maneuver through the defense. The Boca Juniors fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Placa were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
