Umberto Perez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. José Pedro Alves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manfredo Dracena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25th minute, Cláudio Eger had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. Felippe Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manfredo Dracena got free with Dedê da Silveira in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 48th minute, Paulão Montenegro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Mário Linares made a kick off. Mário Linares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dedê da Silveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Rodriguinho de Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Pedro Alves having to interfere. Rodriguinho de Godoi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of José Pedro Alves when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dedê da Silveira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário Linares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
