Augusto da Cunha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Guanandi. Augusto da Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Ribeiro in the 24th minute of the match. If Cacá dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the match, Raphael Baiano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Augusto da Cunha. Itapema's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Raphael Baiano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Claudinho Severo made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Geovani Bezerra sent off a good shot on target. After 40 played minutes Itapema got a freekick which was hit by Marco Falcão. 42 minutes into the match, Itapema's goal looked a bit too open when Fernando Ribeiro came free, but Augusto da Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Falcão do Vale during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Guanandi booed when Itapema was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Falcão do Vale didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 45 minutes of play, Guanandi's César Dionísio made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Augusto da Cunha was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Guanandi were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geovani Bezerra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match, César Dionísio got a very nice opportunity to score, but Augusto da Cunha was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Guanandi were awarded a corner in the 53th minute after Itapema's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. David Castro took the corner. The corner ended in David Castro almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Itapema's Augusto da Cunha did a great save. With a little luck, Itapema's Augusto da Cunha got control of the ball when Fernando Ribeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fernando Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto da Cunha having to interfere. Guanandi's Rodolfo Eger was substituted for Cacá dos Santos. Augusto da Cunha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodolfo Eger, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Geovani Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Claudinho Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Itapema's Augusto da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Eger in the 67th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raphael Baiano in the 69th minute of play forced Itapema's goalkeeper Augusto da Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Itapema's Augusto da Cunha got control of the ball when César Dionísio tried to sneak it across the goal line. Augusto da Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolfo Eger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
