Rubens Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dadá Fernandes in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Dadá Fernandes made a precise shot to the right of Rubens Batista. Tubarão EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Rubens Batista took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Acácio Neves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Albertinho Souto kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Diego Mazza's late challenge caught a Tubarão EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diego Mazza helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to VAXCO 777 getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Diego Mazza hit a great ball. In the 28th minute of the match, Dadá Fernandes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rubens Batista was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Tubarão EC's Rubens Batista proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Tubarão EC from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Acácio Neves got free with Rubens Batista in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Zé Paulo Maia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rubens Batista. That made the score 4-0 in the 38 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dadá Fernandes in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rubens Batista saved Tubarão EC from getting behind. Tubarão EC's Rubens Batista played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo Maia in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dadá Fernandes was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Sidnei Souto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 56th minute, Ediberto Gaspar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rubens Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dadá Fernandes in the 58th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Acácio Neves notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Tubarão EC's Rubens Batista. Rubens Batista was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rubens Batista came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by VAXCO 777's Amauri Braga. But to his dismay, Amauri Braga quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. 77 minutes into the match, VAXCO 777's goalkeeper Faustão de Alcântara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walmir Corrêa. In the 80th match minute, Tubarão EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zé Carlos da Mata to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 80 minutes, Zé Paulo Maia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VAXCO 777's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zé Paulo Maia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 82 played minutes Tubarão EC got a freekick which was hit by Gilvan Miranda. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Paulo Maia in the 85th minute of play forced Tubarão EC's goalkeeper Rubens Batista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
