Rubens Batista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marquinhos Toledo in the 25th minute of play. When Sidnei Souto fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tubarão EC's protests and gave Sidnei Souto a yellow card for diving instead. Sidnei Souto hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Tubarão EC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! Adriano de Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Rubens Batista managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Palmeiras's Marquinhos Toledo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 63 minutes of play, Palmeiras's Adriano de Queiroz made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rubens Batista was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mauro Ferreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonas Soares having to interfere. A very good chance. 96 minutes into the match, Tubarão EC's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano de Queiroz came free, but Rubens Batista reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
