An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Paraibano in the 36th minute of play forced Catadupas's goalkeeper André Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When %teams%'s Cesinha Azevedo was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 2-1 just inside the left pole, 39 minutes into the game. Arí Tróia was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. After 45 minutes, Cesinha Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catadupas and the Faro AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. Abel Marinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kiko Amaral to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Catadupas got a freekick which was hit by Betinho Gonçalves. After having played for 52 minutes, Abel Marinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Faro AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abel Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 56 minutes into the game, Ricardinho Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Faro AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catadupas the free kick. After 55 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Faro AD! Tarcisio Marques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Arí Tróia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Catadupas fans cheered their team off the field, for while Faro AD had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
