Cotias's Eurico Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdir Paraibano in the 31st minute of play. After some careless play in the Cotias defense, Rafael de Mendonça kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eurico Monteiro. The Cotias fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eurico Monteiro should have stopped the shot. Jerônimo Couto hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match.
