When Perivaldo Guimarães came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Leão 1918 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Perivaldo Guimarães couldn't finish the play. When Robinho Peixoto fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Passarao's protests and gave Robinho Peixoto a yellow card for diving instead. Perivaldo Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perivaldo Reis having to interfere. Leão 1918's Perivaldo Guimarães got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Leão 1918's Marcelinho Toscano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Perivaldo Reis. That made the score 1-0 after 24 minutes of play. When Virgílio Pena fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After 32 played minutes, Passarao's Aírton Paes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fernandinho Barbosa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Passarao reached it. Guto Tróia hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. José Augusto de Andrade hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Perivaldo Guimarães could shoot a difficult shot in the 47th minute, which Perivaldo Reis however easily saved by the left post. When Marcelinho Toscano came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Leão 1918 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcelinho Toscano couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Perivaldo Guimarães was the one to do the kick off. After 57 played minutes Passarao got a freekick which was hit by Robinho Peixoto. In the 58th minute, Fred Cabral sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Passarao's Perivaldo Reis didn't even have to move. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kléber de Castro during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Leão 1918 getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Kléber de Castro hit a great ball. José Augusto de Andrade charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Augusto de Andrade the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Passarao's Marco Trancoso shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 64th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Fernandinho Barbosa but with some difficulty. Perivaldo Reis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Perivaldo Guimarães in the 72nd minute of the match. Leão 1918's Fernandinho Barbosa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Leão 1918 from getting a goal against them. Marcelinho Toscano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 84 minutes into the game, José Augusto de Andrade cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Perivaldo Reis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Perivaldo Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Marcelinho Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perivaldo Reis having to interfere. After 91 minutes, Perivaldo Guimarães made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Passarao's Perivaldo Reis tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Perivaldo Reis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Perivaldo Guimarães's shot from short distance in the 95th minute. Leão 1918's Marcelinho Toscano got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Leão 1918 had played much better football throughout.
