With a couple of smart ball manuevers Perivaldo Guimarães in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benedito Castro saved Parahiba AD from getting behind. 6 minutes into the game, Pedro Moraes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Parahiba AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Leão 1918 the free kick. A collision led to Parahiba AD getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Pedro Moraes hit a great ball. Virgílio Pena's late challenge caught a Parahiba AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Virgílio Pena helped the player get up and apologised. After 7 played minutes Leão 1918 got a freekick which was hit by Virgílio Pena. Leão 1918's Perivaldo Guimarães got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 17 minutes into the match, Leão 1918's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Eduardo Miranda came free, but Fernandinho Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Leão 1918's César Sarmento got a free kick in the 17th minute. Marcelinho Toscano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Carlinhos Romero's late challenge caught a Parahiba AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlinhos Romero helped the player get up and apologised. After 26 played minutes Leão 1918 got a freekick which was hit by Carlinhos Romero. Fernandinho Barbosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Eduardo Miranda in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th match minute, Leão 1918 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlinhos Romero to maneuver through the defense. Jorge Paraíba hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. The audience held their breath when Fred Cabral in the 39th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Benedito Castro's left hand side. Perivaldo Guimarães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Benedito Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Parahiba AD's Carlos Eduardo Miranda was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 43rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Eduardo Miranda to make the kick off. Perivaldo Guimarães kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Perivaldo Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Castro having to interfere. In the 58th match minute, Leão 1918 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlinhos Romero to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rd minute Carlos Eduardo Miranda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandinho Barbosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcelinho Toscano ran back to his position shaking his head. 75 minutes into the match, Leão 1918's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Eduardo Miranda came free, but Fernandinho Barbosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leão 1918's Fernandinho Barbosa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Eduardo Miranda in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Perivaldo Guimarães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 87 played minutes, Leão 1918's Wilton Moreno shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benedito Castro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Leão 1918 reached it. If Perivaldo Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlinhos Romero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Benedito Castro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 92nd minute, Perivaldo Guimarães made a precise shot to the right of Benedito Castro. Parahiba AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Leão 1918's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
