But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Perivaldo Guimarães couldn't finish the play. In the 21st minute of the game, Laércio Tinoco landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. 21 minutes into the game, César Sarmento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Leão 1918 reached it. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 78 minutes of play, Leão 1918's Perivaldo Guimarães made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
