When Otávio Trancoso fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Divinopolis's protests and gave Otávio Trancoso a yellow card for diving instead. In the 14th minute, Otávio Trancoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Agnaldo Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tadeu Cearense having to interfere. Agnaldo Fernandez struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Tadeu Cearense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Laguinho. After 26 minutes, Oséas Leme mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Divinopolis and the Laguinho players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 27th minute of the match Teodoro Recife sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tadeu Cearense skillfully saved the ball. Laguinho's Agnaldo Fernandez got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rômulo Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Divinopolis's zone, Agnaldo Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tadeu Cearense came out of the goal and Agnaldo Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 46 minutes into the match, Laguinho's goal looked a bit too open when Otávio Trancoso came free, but Luiz Gustavo de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After a rather tough play, Divinopolis's Daniel Queiroz got a free kick in the 56th minute. Tadeu Cearense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rômulo Moura in the 58th minute of the match. Rômulo Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tadeu Cearense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rômulo Moura in the 95th minute of play. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
