The audience thought a goal was coming when Agnaldo Fernandez got free with Osvaldinho Paraense in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chants of Laguinho echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Paulino had held the ball for most of the match.
