The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Iuri de Brito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Bistreanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Patrick Goiano kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In the 12th match minute, Escobar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horácio Velloso to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Acácio Almeida in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dagoberto Faria saved Escobar from getting behind. After a rather tough play, C.F. Minas Gerais's Patrick Goiano got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 16th minute, Horácio Velloso sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and C.F. Minas Gerais's Iuri de Brito didn't even have to move. C.F. Minas Gerais's Iuri de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doru Bistreanu in the 22nd minute of play. Doru Bistreanu scored 0-1 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iuri de Brito, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Escobar's Clayton Gerson got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tiaguinho de Brito during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Tiaguinho de Brito hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Horácio Velloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Escobar's supporters crossed their fingers, but Horácio Velloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Doru Bistreanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 47 minutes into the game, Jânio Fantini cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Iuri de Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Doru Bistreanu to strike the kick off in the second half. When Acácio Almeida came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the C.F. Minas Gerais fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Acácio Almeida couldn't finish the play. Doru Bistreanu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Iuri de Brito came out and tried to block the shot, but Doru Bistreanu slotted it home off the left post making it 0-4 in the 58th minute. The Escobar fans' excitement grew in the 64th match minute when Escobar's Doru Bistreanu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, C.F. Minas Gerais's Osvaldinho Machado got a free kick in the 67th minute. A collision led to C.F. Minas Gerais getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Acácio Almeida hit a great ball. Dagoberto Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Acácio Almeida in the 70th minute of play. Doru Bistreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Doru Bistreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Escobar's supporters rose to their feet, but Doru Bistreanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iuri de Brito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With his leg Iuri de Brito managed to avoid a goal in the 91stth minute, when Escobar's Doru Bistreanu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Clayton Gerson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Escobar's Rodrigo de Queirós got a free kick in the 95th minute.
