Spectators: 7483 (Terracing: 5614, Seating: 1720, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jânio Bertassi started the match with the kick off. Luverdense Esporte Clube's Horácio de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jânio Bertassi in the 13th minute of play. Horácio de Medeiros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jânio Bertassi's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. Paulas's Gilmar Reis got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Jânio Bertassi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paulas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Luverdense Esporte Clube's Horácio de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jânio Bertassi in the 43rd minute of play. In the 48th minute, Guilherme Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yan Cardozo might have been able to make a better finish in the 49th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Horácio de Medeiros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Yan Cardozo ran back to his position shaking his head. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Eduardo Albuquerque made the kick off in the second half. Horácio de Medeiros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jânio Bertassi's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. After 56 played minutes Luverdense Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by André Senna. Horácio de Medeiros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jânio Bertassi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulas's Gilmar Reis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Horácio de Medeiros. That made the score 1-2 after 63 minutes of play. If Jânio Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jânio Bertassi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leonardo Aparecido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduardo Albuquerque in the 79th minute of play. With his leg Horácio de Medeiros managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when Paulas's Jânio Bertassi fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Válbson Mota hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Jânio Bertassis short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Horácio de Medeiros to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 90 minutes into the match, Luverdense Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Horácio de Medeiros had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fabiano Cardoso. Jânio Bertassi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Horácio de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Faustão Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The Luverdense Esporte Clube fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Paulas were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
