Anderson Peixoto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eşref Ertüze's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Anderson Peixoto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. If Eşref Ertüze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Décio Lago kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. Sidnei Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermínio Sanches in the 20th minute of play. When Basílio Cordeiro fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Star Sports's protests and gave Basílio Cordeiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Basílio Cordeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Sebastián Veron managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Otávio Garcia in the 27 minute of the game. Desportiva Ferroviaria-ES's Vitinho Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 35th minute, Hermínio Sanches fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sidnei Coelho, passed just outside the right post. Anderson Peixoto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eşref Ertüze in the 43rd minute of the match. Eşref Ertüze scored 0-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Anderson Peixoto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Anderson Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eduard Camavinga in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eşref Ertüze stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eşref Ertüze took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anderson Peixoto. Anderson Peixoto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Eduard Camavinga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute, Vitinho Travassos had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. When Cláudio Brodel fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Star Sports's protests and gave Cláudio Brodel a yellow card for diving instead. Cláudio Brodel kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Eşref Ertüze had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Anderson Peixoto. Star Sports's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eşref Ertüze was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 62nd minute, Fernandinho Trancoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Eduard Camavinga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fernandinho Trancoso scored 0-4 in the 71st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Anderson Peixoto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 77th minute Eşref Ertüze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anderson Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
