Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Armindo da Costa made the kick off which started today's match. 4 minutes into the game, Armindo da Costa recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Vito Saraiva. Armindo da Costa showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Armindo da Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nilton Santos in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dinei Arruda prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eurico Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Vito Saraiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vito Saraiva came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Saguoes's Eurico Batista. But to his dismay, Eurico Batista quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Dinei Arruda stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nilton Santos's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. The referee gave Cataguazes SC a penalty, 25 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by César Fernandes, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Saguoes's Dinei Arruda. 2-1. Nilton Santos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dinei Arruda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 28th minute of play. Nilton Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Dinei Arruda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 35 played minutes Saguoes got a freekick which was hit by Adrianinho Aguiar. Dinei Arruda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesinha Dante in the 36th minute of play. In the 39th minute Cesinha Dante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dinei Arruda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Saguoes's goalkeeper Dinei Arruda, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nilton Santos to make the kick off. Dinei Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nilton Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Cataguazes SC booed when Saguoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurício Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cesinha Dante's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dinei Arruda firmly grabbed it by the left post. Cesinha Dante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dinei Arruda having to interfere. After 61 played minutes Saguoes got a freekick which was hit by Maurício Cerezo. After 63 played minutes Saguoes got a freekick which was hit by Umberto Arósio. 67 minutes into the match, Saguoes's goalkeeper Dinei Arruda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cesinha Dante. The supporters of Cataguazes SC booed when Saguoes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Umberto Arósio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vito Saraiva made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2.
