In the 5th match minute, Villa Juniores F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chicão Galvão to maneuver through the defense. When Carlos Eduardo Paulista came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Villa Juniores F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Eduardo Paulista couldn't finish the play. Reinaldo Queiroz took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rômulo Tavares. Rômulo Tavares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. With a little luck, Villa Juniores F.C.'s Rômulo Tavares got control of the ball when Reinaldo Queiroz tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Ajacio SS booed when Villa Juniores F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Saraiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Luís Fábio Prado from long distance, 35 minutes into the match, got Rômulo Tavares's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Lenílson Toledo's late challenge caught a Villa Juniores F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lenílson Toledo helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of Ajacio SS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Villa Juniores F.C.:s goal. Ajacio SS:s Fabrício Diniz showed great skill when he stopped Luís Guilherme Queiroz:s penalty. 40 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ajacio SS's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luís Guilherme Queiroz was slow to take the kick. During this time Villa Juniores F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. Gilberto do Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Osvaldo Sá stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Gilberto do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rômulo Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Osvaldo Sá had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Geovânio Marinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Diniz having to interfere. The supporters of Villa Juniores F.C. booed when Ajacio SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Fábio Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ajacio SS's Doni Arantes got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 66 minutes of play, Ajacio SS's Reinaldo Queiroz made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rômulo Tavares was left in no man's land by his defense there! Carlos Eduardo Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Diniz having to interfere. Osvaldo Sá recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Sílvio Saraiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rômulo Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo Queiroz in the 80th minute of the match. After 86 played minutes Villa Juniores F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldo Sá. Villa Juniores F.C.'s Rômulo Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilberto do Valle in the 87th minute of play. If Doni Arantes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Villa Juniores F.C.'s supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Ajacio SS had won, even though Villa Juniores F.C. had held more of the ball.
