After a defensive mix-up in Jangada's zone, Yuri de Lima stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovanni Leão came out of the goal and Yuri de Lima tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 8 minutes, Carlos Vale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jangada and the Clube Atlético Phoenix players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carlos Vale hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After having played for 9 minutes, Tomás Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Clube Atlético Phoenix's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomás Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marquinhos Sena in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juarês Marinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Isaltino Xavier struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Geovanni Leão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Clube Atlético Phoenix. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marquinhos Sena in the 17th minute of play forced Clube Atlético Phoenix's goalkeeper Juarês Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Marquinhos Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute Marquinhos Sena shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juarês Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovanni Leão came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Clube Atlético Phoenix's Artur Mota. But to his dismay, Artur Mota quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Mota in the 33rd minute of play forced Jangada's goalkeeper Geovanni Leão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jangada's Geovanni Leão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Jangada from getting a goal against them. Mathias Quadros charged in rather forcefully in the 38th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mathias Quadros the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 38 played minutes Jangada got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Quadros. Claudinho Donato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The nice shot from Isaltino Xavier in the 46thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Geovanni Leão had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yuri de Lima to make the kick off. The supporters of Clube Atlético Phoenix booed when Jangada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernani Meirelles didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Jangada getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Claudinho Donato hit a great ball. After 76 played minutes Jangada got a freekick which was hit by Válbson Dracena. After 80 played minutes Jangada got a freekick which was hit by Mathias Quadros. Geovanni Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yuri de Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 96 played minutes Jangada got a freekick which was hit by Ernani Meirelles. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Clube Atlético Phoenix had played much better football throughout.
