Cássio de Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Danilo Veloso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Fernando Novaes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cássio de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cléber Capixaba in the 7th minute of the match. Cássio de Andrade showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anísio Dante, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 11th minute, Glauco de Mendonça hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adrianinho Saldanha who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Cássio de Andrade when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After 14 minutes, Adrianinho Saldanha made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Vasco da Gama's Cássio de Andrade tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 17th minute Serafim Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danilo Veloso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cangaceiros PE's Danilo Veloso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafim Castro in the 19th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 24 minutes, Cássio de Andrade successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Cássio de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrianinho Saldanha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the game, Adrianinho Saldanha recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Cássio de Andrade. Adrianinho Saldanha showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adrianinho Saldanha in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cássio de Andrade prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Adrianinho Saldanha got free in front of the goal in the 37th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Cássio de Andrade was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Jorge Linares made a precise shot to the right of Cássio de Andrade. Vasco da Gama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. In the 47th minute, Cangaceiros PE's Adrianinho Saldanha ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cássio de Andrade. Cássio de Andrade yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Adrianinho Saldanha made the kick off in the second half. Adrianinho Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Cássio de Andrade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adrianinho Saldanha's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. After some careless play in the Vasco da Gama defense, Cléber Capixaba kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cássio de Andrade. The Vasco da Gama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cássio de Andrade should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Cangaceiros PE booed when Vasco da Gama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ismael Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 74 minutes, the score became 6-0 when Adrianinho Saldanha sped through Vasco da Gama's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Cássio de Andrade. Cléber Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cássio de Andrade having to interfere. In the 81st minute of the match, Serafim Castro tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Danilo Veloso saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cléber Capixaba in the 82nd minute of play forced Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper Cássio de Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Danilo Veloso came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco da Gama's Serafim Castro. But to his dismay, Serafim Castro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-1. Adrianinho Saldanha scored 7-1 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cássio de Andrade, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After taking down the ball on Vasco da Gama's corner Vitinho Machado fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Danilo Veloso quite easily take care of the ball. When the referee ended the match the Cangaceiros PE players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
