When Chico Godoi fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EC Calango's protests and gave Chico Godoi a yellow card for diving instead. In the 6th minute, Chico Godoi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Enio Azevedo in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dagoberto Penha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dagoberto Penha made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Edmílson Veloso sent off a good shot on target. After having played for 11 minutes, Moisés Martins managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EC Calango's supporters crossed their fingers, but Moisés Martins was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Moisés Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Giuseppe Barreto having to make a save. In the 13th match minute, Sosoco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remo Bezerra to maneuver through the defense. Serginho Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giuseppe Barreto having to interfere. Enio Azevedo struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Dagoberto Penha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sosoco FC. Sosoco FC's Luiz Eduardo de Queiroz shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 24th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Dagoberto Penha but with some difficulty. When Sosoco FC's Enio Azevedo in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye EC Calango's goalie prevented a goal. Dagoberto Penha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enio Azevedo's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enio Azevedo in the 28th minute of play forced EC Calango's goalkeeper Dagoberto Penha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Sosoco FC's Dagoberto Penha threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Enio Azevedo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Dagoberto Penha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enio Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Enio Azevedo put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Dagoberto Penha. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

A collision led to Sosoco FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Valdir Paes hit a great ball. Zé de Senna struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Moisés Martins got free with Giuseppe Barreto in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. But to his dismay, Enio Azevedo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Dagoberto Penha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enio Azevedo in the 87th minute of the match. Moisés Martinss short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Giuseppe Barreto to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 90 played minutes EC Calango got a freekick which was hit by Moisés Martins. After a rather tough play, EC Calango's Serginho Machado got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Giuseppe Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chico Godoi in the 96th minute of the match. The Sosoco FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
