Joel dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilmar Pereira in the 13th minute of the match. Jorginho Mazza charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorginho Mazza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Joanesia's Jorginho Mazza got a free kick in the 14th minute. Nilmar Pereira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 17 minutes, Severino Zanette managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Jorginho Mazza was shown his second yellow card after 22 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Severino Zanette to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Durval Saraiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hamílton Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Plinião Futebol Clube's Nilmar Pereira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joel dos Santos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eliseu de Lima's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel dos Santos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Alexsandro Baiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Joel dos Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Nilmar Pereira came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Plinião Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nilmar Pereira couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Joanesia's Joel dos Santos got control of the ball when Severino Zanette tried to sneak it across the goal line.
