After 4 minutes, Carlos Alberto Catarinense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Joanesia and the El Gallinero players grew even worse after the yellow card. Joel dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Júnior Costa in the 5th minute of the match. When Marcinho Falcão came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the El Gallinero fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcinho Falcão couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bruninho Berger in the 9th minute of play forced Joanesia's goalkeeper Joel dos Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes into the game, Jorginho Mazza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Joanesia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Gallinero the free kick. In the 10th match minute, Joanesia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorginho Mazza to maneuver through the defense. Joanesia's Joel dos Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmílson Esteves in the 15th minute of play. Magno Ramalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 20 minutes into the match, Bruninho Berger had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joel dos Santos. Joanesia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bruninho Berger was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Magno Ramalho in the 24th minute of play forced Joanesia's goalkeeper Joel dos Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 25 minutes of play, El Gallinero's Edmílson Esteves made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joel dos Santos was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 28th minute Edmílson Esteves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel dos Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Magno Ramalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 34 minutes into the match, El Gallinero's goalkeeper Benjamim Freire had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abelardo Meireles. Joel dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmílson Esteves in the 43rd minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Magno Ramalho made a kick off. Joel dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Magno Ramalho in the 52nd minute of play. In the 53rd minute Marcinho Falcão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Joanesia's Joel dos Santos got control of the ball when Edmílson Esteves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Magno Ramalho received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Joel dos Santos came out and tried to block the shot, but Magno Ramalho slotted it home off the left post making it 0-5 in the 57th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 64 minutes, Joel dos Santos successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Joanesia's Joel dos Santos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Joanesia from getting a goal against them. If Magno Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Joanesia defense, Edmílson Esteves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joel dos Santos. The Joanesia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joel dos Santos should have stopped the shot. Marcinho Falcão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joel dos Santos having to interfere. In the 79th minute Magno Ramalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel dos Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmílson Esteves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Joel dos Santos made a huge save. Marcinho Falcão took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joel dos Santos. Joel dos Santos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-7. Célio Paranaense charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Célio Paranaense the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jorginho Mazza placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! In a very dangerous position, a player in El Gallinero fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 91st minute. Penalty! In the 93rd minute there was a penalty for Joanesia. Jorginho Mazza stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benjamim Freire. 1-7. Benjamim Freire made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Durval Saraiva in the 101st minute of play. El Gallinero's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
