The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Roger Mello made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Augusto Trevisan sent off a good shot on target. Adhemar Lopez kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Laerte Batista hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 37th minute of the match Renato da Costa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roger Mello skillfully saved the ball. In the 41st minute, Amílton Domingues left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Estrelar FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. If Zézinho Vasconcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the match, Estrelar FC's goalkeeper Roger Mello had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Augusto Trevisan.

Túlio Melo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Rubens Travassos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ronaldinho Custódio hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Amílton Domingues might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rubens Travassos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Amílton Domingues ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 82nd minute, Amílton Domingues ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rubens Travassos was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. Augusto Trevisan hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Laerte Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Estrelar FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Laerte Batista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rubens Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Túlio Melo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute Túlio Melo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubens Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Amílton Domingues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Estrelar FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amílton Domingues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Rap é o Som getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. André Luiz Furlan hit a great ball. Estrelar FC's José Pedro Valadares was responsible for 2-5 with a brilliant performance in the 93rd minute when he, by himself, got past the opponents defense and with a quick shot sent the ball into the goal to the left of Rubens Travassos. Estrelar FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
