With his leg Marcinho Severo managed to avoid a goal in the 19thth minute, when Racing F. C's Paulo José de Lima fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Tomé Alagoano was extremely unlucky when he, in the 20th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cícero Maciel showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Cícero Maciel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 54 minutes, Paulo José de Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Racing F. C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo José de Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Racing F. C's Cícero Maciel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Racing F. C from getting a goal against them. Marcinho Severo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagoberto Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
