Delfim Vaz took the ball and in the 4 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fernandinho Esteves. Fernandinho Esteves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Pål Sigman who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of César Andrade when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Delfim Vaz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Fernandinho Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SAPIRANGA E C's Karl-Ove Ivarsson got a free kick in the 14th minute. When José Augusto Velasco came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the cuiabá fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Augusto Velasco couldn't finish the play. SAPIRANGA E C's Fernandinho Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Augusto Velasco in the 17th minute of play. César Andrade made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pål Sigman in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Augusto Velasco in the 25th minute of play forced SAPIRANGA E C's goalkeeper Fernandinho Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. César Vasconcelos charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed César Vasconcelos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 37 minutes into the match, cuiabá's goal looked a bit too open when Pål Sigman came free, but César Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when 柳适斐 got free with César Andrade in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 53rd minute Pål Sigman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but César Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. cuiabá's César Andrade played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 柳适斐 in the 56th minute of play. César Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pål Sigman in the 58th minute of the match. In the 59th match minute, cuiabá was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Osvaldinho de Amorim to maneuver through the defense. César Andrade stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pål Sigman's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pål Sigman in the 63rd minute of play forced cuiabá's goalkeeper César Andrade to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 柳适斐 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Fernandinho Esteves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle went the supporters of cuiabá were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant SAPIRANGA E C side.
