To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 14 minutes into the game, Cícero Madureira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tilápia fc's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santa City the free kick. Cícero Madureira hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. When Antônio Lara came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Santa City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Antônio Lara couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Tilápia fc booed when Santa City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruninho Custódio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luciano Loyola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute of the match Dagoberto de Almeida shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dedê Toscano showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Dedê Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vágner Ferraz in the 46th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vágner Ferraz in the 47th minute of play forced Tilápia fc's goalkeeper Dedê Toscano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vágner Ferraz made a kick off. Hélio de Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Anísio Pena struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Bruninho Custódio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tilápia fc. The Tilápia fc fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Vágner Ferraz succeeded in the game's 63rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Antônio Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Dedê Toscano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vágner Ferraz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedê Toscano having to interfere. Santa City's Vágner Ferraz got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Tilápia fc supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Santa City's performance. The match ended with a win for Santa City.
